Indigenous Cadetship

Indigenous Summer Vacation (Cadetship) Program

Woodside, in partnership with the Australian Government, provides support to Indigenous tertiary education students to help them transition from education to sustainable employment.

Our Indigenous Summer Vacation (cadetship) Program allows students in who are currently in any year of their first undergraduate degree, studying full time, to gain an insight into working within an innovative and dynamic multi-disciplined organisation. For successful applicants who are eligible, additional government funding may be accessed.

In our 12 week program (or 4 week program for Accounting students), you will be given the opportunity to undertake exciting projects that provide:

  • The chance to be assessed for a position on our Graduate Development Program before you embark on your final year of study
  • Valuable and extensive on the job work experience
  • Practical experience to build on your theoretical knowledge
  • The support of a graduate buddy and your supervisor

You will get valuable exposure to real work and a fantastic insight into our culture, plus exposure to our top professionals. There is also the possibility of seeing our operations first-hand through either a placement in Karratha or potential site visit to any of our operations and frequent lunch and learn sessions.

Applications for the 2019/20 summer are now closed.  Applications for the 2020/2021 will open in July 2020. We will be visiting university campuses around Australia during this time, so you can get to know our people and find out more about our program. See our campus events schedule here.

If you are interested in applying for the Indigenous Summer Vacation program outside of this application period, or have questions about the eligibility criteria, please email
