About the Role

The Control Room Operator is accountable for monitoring and optimization of production systems safely, efficiently and without environmental impact in accordance with the facility business plan, management system and applicable legislation. This position requires the ability to prepare and operate the central control room, subsea process systems and subsea safety systems. The Control Room Operator will also oversee operations performed under the Permit to Work system.

Duties and Responsibilities

Project Activities 

Participate in and provide process input to formal safety assessments and design reviews.
Input into human machine interface development, alarm rationalization, and process control narratives.
Complete the training and competency development outlined for the role. 
Participate as a member of the hook up and commissioning team and the start-up team during start-up operations. 
Develop, maintain and update (as required) operational procedures and work instructions.  
 Assist in the development and maintenance update of documents relating to production systems and their operation. 

HSE Accountabilities 

Ensure all activities are performed safely, within relevant regulatory and company requirements, and in accordance with HSE standards. 
Ensure company and 3rd party compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements as well as all Woodside HSE and operational standards, policies and practices. 
Participate in and lead safety-related drills and exercises; lead facility HSE meetings as required. 
Supervise during emergency situations as required. 
Approve work permits according to permit-to-work procedures. 

 

Operations Phase – Deliver the Base 

Oversee the operation of topsides and subsea safety systems, process control systems and communications systems; initiate any necessary action to ensure safe operation. 
Maintain compliance with operating procedures and work instructions. 
Coordinate the shutdown and isolation of topside and subsea process equipment for maintenance. 
Audit work practices and conformance to management systems. 
Identify opportunities and methods to achieve continuous improvement in the asset. 
Work within the asset to achieve a multi-discipline approach to problem solving and to meet or exceed asset objectives. 
Minimize impacts to the production process during equipment maintenance; safeguard the availability and operating condition of all plant and equipment so that production targets can be achieved. 
Supervise equipment inspection and testing, including critical function testing. 
Prepare reports and generate detailed records and handover notes as required to facilitate proper communications. 
Carry out performance and compliance testing of wells and diagnosis and optimization on production systems. 
Monitor the work backlog for the operations team and implement suitable strategies to ensure it remains within acceptable levels. 
Assist the Lead Control Room Operator in support of the operations team activities. 
Coordinate operations to meet or exceed availability and production targets. 
Communicate with other team leaders to optimize day-to-day operational activities. 
Coordinate the daily work activities including leading operations personnel and contractors to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently. 
Identify options for OPEX reduction and production optimization. 
Generate detailed records of operation events and assist with the transfer of information between operation crews.

Duration of Assignment: Permanent and rotational

Skills and Experience

  • Strong health, safety, and environmental record required 
  • Strong team working skills, along with experience in working with engineers and/or multi-disciplinary teams required 
  • Strong petroleum regulatory compliance record preferred 
  • Citizenship: Mexican Citizen
  • Visa Requirements: B1/B2 USA Visa required
  • Education: University Degree or Trade Certificate required
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in oil & gas production operations
  • Communication Skills: Proficient in written communication
  • Technical Expertise: Experience with oil and gas production including flow assurance, hydrate mitigation, production processes, reporting, and simultaneous operations.  A working knowledge of pumps, compressors, dehydration systems, separation systems, control systems, chemical and corrosion mitigation systems and firefighting systems.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient computer skills relevant to job responsibilities

 

Proficiency in English is preferred
