About the Role
We are seeking an experienced finance professional to join the Mexico finance function. This role will support the Trion asset within the International Operations pillar. This role requires a commercial mindset and the ability to work collaboratively to identify and progress opportunities that create and protect sustainable competitive advantage, including partner recovery. Finance Business Partners create outcomes by building relationships, turning data into insights, challenging the status quo, and framing and influencing decisions through problem solving. The role works directly with Operations, Subsurface, Surface Engineering, and Projects teams, support functions, and external finance relationships with Joint Venture partners.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Joint Venture Financial Governance
• Preparation, validation, and timely submission of cash calls to JV partners, ensuring alignment with approved work programs and operator requirements
• Partner billings, reinvoicing, and cost allocations in accordance with JV agreements and local regulatory expectations
• Monitor full compliance with Joint Operating Agreement (JOA) financial provisions, governance frameworks, and audit requirements
• Support Finance interface with Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), representing Woodside on JV financial matters
• Support Finance Committee meetings through preparation of financial analysis, clear reporting, and informed recommendations
2. Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance Management
• Participate in the annual budget and forecast process, ensuring alignment with the approved work program, operator plans, and regulatory commitments
• Perform detailed variance analysis, proactively challenging cost drivers and identifying financial risks and opportunities
• Support long‑range planning and scenario modeling to inform investment decisions and JV strategy
• Translate operational and project inputs into robust financial projections that support internal governance and external reporting obligations
3. Business Partnering & Commercial Support
• Support contract financial reviews, funding impact assessments, and commercial evaluations related to JV and regulatory commitments
• Compliance with local financial and regulatory requirements, including coordination and reporting obligations with SIPAC, SENAR, and the Ministry of Energy (SENER)
• Drive cost transparency, capital discipline, and strong financial controls across Mexico operations
Skills and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Contador Público Certificado (CPC) preferred (credential issued by Instituto Mexicano de Contadores Públicos)
• 6–10+ years of experience in upstream oil & gas or capital-intensive energy sector
• Demonstrated experience working in upstream JV environments
• Familiarity with large ERP environments (SAP preferred)
• JOA financial governance
• CAPEX/OPEX budgeting
• • Fluent Spanish and English
Preferred Experience
• Direct exposure to Mexican upstream projects
• Experience managing development-phase assets
Critical Competencies
• Deep understanding of JV financial mechanics in Mexico
• Strong governance mindset and control orientation
• Commercial acumen
• Structured communicator comfortable engaging senior stakeholders
• High ownership and accountability
Proficiency in English is preferred
