About the Role:

The HSE Lead is a senior member of the HSE team and is responsible for providing HSE functional expertise to the Trion Delivery Teams. Primary area of focus is the HSE Execution oversight and engagement with the major fabrication and installation contractors. This position reports to the Trion HSE Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide HSE expertise, advice and support for site activities (Fabrication yards, Installation vessels, etc)
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the HSE management plans tailored to construction, fabrication & offshore installation
  • Interface with primary contractors on contract deliverables (e.g. execution plans, Risk assessments, bridging documents, emergency response, etc)
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant HSE regulations, standards, and company policies
  • Perform risk assessments and hazard identification for all project phases and
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies and monitor their effectiveness
  • HSE input into Contractor Management and managing HSE in contracts.

  • Lead monthly HSE performance meeting
  • Data analysis to promote culture of continuous improvement
  • Lead/facilitate HSE verification audits, field leadership activities and incident investigations
  • Support Incident management team (IMT) and emergency response within the project
  • Provide leadership and HSE Input into key decisions and promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement
  • Support commissioning and star up HSE activities

  • Direct Reports: HSE Advisors in major fabrication yards and installation vessels will report to this position

Experience

  • 15+ years relevant experience in upstream petroleum industry with a strong background in major capital projects
  • In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices with major fabrication yard construction and offshore installation activities
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills that have generated successful business outcomes
  • Previous supervisory experience is required and general knowledge of developing professionals
  • Good understanding of the relationship between business health & safety, process safety and risk management
  • Strong influencing, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, able to lead, integrate and deliver cross-functional decisions/efforts
  • Self-driven and flexible, able to quickly adapt to project priorities and able to balance and delivery multiple priorities and work-fronts
  • Experience challenging priorities and plans to validate they are focused on what matters most.

Skills:

  • Understanding of offshore oil and gas hook-up and commissioning and EPC contracting
  • Adaptability to work in dynamic and challenging environments and in a construction site environment
  • Task oriented and delivery focused
  • Working knowledge of industry HSE standards
  • Willing to travel internationally to multiple project site locations
  • Capacity to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Flexibility to work on different time zones
  • Offshore experience is mandatory
