About the Role

Position Business Area: Louisiana LNG

Matrix Entity Supported: Gas & Marketing – LA LNG

 

Purpose:

Overall accountability to manage and lead Woodside’s Domestic US Gas Trading 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify, mature and negotiate domestic US gas opportunities. 
  • Progress long term (up to 20 years) gas sales to execution within Treasury and Legal controls and subject to MOA delegation authorities from the CEO, with the objective of maximizing the net realized value to Woodside 
  • Monitor key trends and events in North American natural gas markets, including competitive intelligence, M&A activity, and policy/regulatory changes that impact natural gas fundamentals
  • Provide explanation and commentary of ETRM Systems and Risk Management methodologies
  • Responsible for the management and reporting of US gas profit and loss to senior management
  • Oversee the execution of all derivative activity in the US Gas portfolio 

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in a high-volume US Gas Trading environment and in all US derivative hedging instruments
  • Be able to demonstrate initiative, tenacity and drive for continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to validate and relate exposure and P&L results to commodity market drivers.
  • Proficient with Excel formulas, pivot table functionality, and trading database applications.
  • Experience with using trade capture systems (Openlink, Hitachi or other)
  • Possess strong organizational, communication, and time management skill is critical.
  • Demonstrates inclusive, collaborative work behaviours and supports, listens, and respects the diversity and value of ideas from others.

 

Qualifications

  • 15+ years’ relevant experience working in energy trading with a strong understanding of commodity trading, preferably in LNG markets.
  • Proven execution of high volumes of US physical and financial gas trading
  • Full understanding of the entire North American pipeline and energy grid with focus in gas to LNG export
  • Relationships in place throughout the US natural gas complex (physical, financial, transportation, storage)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Finance, Economics, or other related field and understanding of financial and physical trading instruments
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.), Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, etc.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
