About the Role

The Instrument & Automation Technician is responsible for the installation, calibration, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation, control systems, automation systems, safety systems, and associated electrical equipment that support safe and reliable operation of the Shenzi asset. The role ensures process control, emergency shutdown (ESD), fire and gas (F&G), and instrumentation systems perform in accordance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and asset performance expectations. Responsibilities include supporting production reliability, process safety, alarm management, regulatory compliance, and execution of maintenance activities while maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, inspect, calibrate, and troubleshoot pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analytical instrumentation.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities on instrumentation systems.
• Verify instrument performance and maintain calibration records.
• Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions to restore system reliability.
• Support commissioning and startup activities for new or modified equipment.

Safety Responsibilities

• Comply with Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), isolation, confined space, and hot work requirements.
• Recognize and mitigate occupational exposure risks including noise, hazardous chemicals, electrical hazards, and process energy.

Work Conditions

• Rotational offshore assignment.
• Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift equipment within company guidelines.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Participation in an emergency response role as assigned.

Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of experience as an Instrumentation & Automation Technician, preferably in oil and gas or other process industries.
• Experience installing, maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting instrumentation and automation equipment.
• Knowledge of process instrumentation, control systems, ESD systems, and fire & gas (F&G) systems.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, loop diagrams, and cause-and-effect diagrams.
• Experience supporting maintenance, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Understanding of PTW, LOTO, and process safety requirements.
• Offshore production facility experience preferred.
• Ability to work in a rotational offshore environment and respond to operational priorities safely and effectively.
