About the Role:

Woodside is currently seeking expressions of interest for individuals to join our Projects function as a Estimator, to support estimating activities through all phases of a project lifecycle. The role involves primarily to deliver multi discipline estimates for the Sub Sea and Pipelines Group. Knowledge and experience of Topsides, FPSO’s, LNG, Onshore and Brownfield projects will be advantageous.


Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop accurate cost estimates in line with Woodside’s procedures and guidelines, across all project phases based on the defined scope of work, project schedule and execution plan
  • Analyse and align external contractors cost estimates and tenders to Woodside’s WBS, scope of work, schedule and project execution plan
  • Provide appropriate estimating support and techniques using industry best practices
  • Support the preparation of developing the Project Estimate Plan
  • Support and update the Basis of Estimate
  • Maintain estimating norms and rates database
  • Support Lead estimator\Project Services Manager with early warning intelligence on estimate deviations to allow timely intervention and corrective measures
  • Use appropriate benchmarks in preparation of cost estimates
  • Participate and support cost risk analyses models
  • Track estimate changes and prepare estimate reconciliations
  • Participate in estimate reviews with Woodside estimators and external contractors
  • Understand escalation indices and foreign currency for future economic modelling
Skills & Experience:

Key skills required:

  •  Demonstrated experience in cost estimation across all phases of Project lifecycle in the Oil and Gas Industry
  • Firm understanding of estimate gate process
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to work on multiple projects of various size and complexity
  • Critical thinking, problem solving and good analytical skills
  • Skilled in use and development of estimating tools and templates
  • Understand cost confidence modelling techniques and tools
  • Skilled on applying benchmark data
  • Dealing with external contractors and tenderers
  • Interpret project schedules
  • Solid understanding of WBS and code of accounts utilization on estimates
  • Knowledge of various contracting strategies and how they are applied to cost estimates
