About the Role:

Woodside’s OneMarine is charged with delivering safe, efficient and synergised marine operations whilst ensuring appropriate focus on managing marine risk and contractor compliance. The Marine Operations Superintendent is responsible for leveraging technical experience, business acumen and expert relationship management to deliver world-class operations and commercial excellence.


This position is available on a permanent basis and is based in our Head office in Perth, Western Australia and has regular travel opportunities to our assets both nationally and internationally.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide Outstanding Marine Operations Advice

  • Ideate and develop innovative approaches to meet the marine operations requirements of internal customers, both domestically and internationally
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to achieve industry leading outcomes in terms of optimised vessel utilisation and risk mitigation
  • Remain abreast of regulatory change in industry, and participate in regulator or industry engagement as required to influence changes to the advantage of Woodside
  • Assess and advise on the suitability of particular offshore vessels and berth facilities for the work scopes required by various business units


Deliver Contract Management Excellence

  • Monitor and manage vessel performance during charter periods
  • Leverage contractor relationships and available data within the vessel charter market to ensure OneMarine has an accurate appreciation of vessel availability and market price
  • Accountable for utilising data to drive effective decision making within the marine operations context, thereby achieving high utilisation rates and outstanding Health & Safety performance
  • Communicate during the resolution of vessel technical issues or incidents to ensure customer satisfaction and risk management is upheld to the highest standard

Skills & Experience:

  • Current or past qualification as Senior Deck Officer (Master/Chief Officer) or Senior Engineering Officer (Chief Engineer/First Engineer) required
  • Tertiary degree in business, management or commerce preferred
  • Extensive practical experience in offshore vessel operations, including Dynamic Positioning operations
  • Experience as a Vessel Manager or Fleet Manager desirable
  • Experience in marine chartering and contracting desirable
  • Experience in marine assurance activities including company and vessel audits desirable
