About the Role:

As our next Financial Accountant you will provide financial and management accounting services to support the Marketing, Trading and Shipping (MTS) function in delivering trading and shipping activities. The MTS Operational Accountant will provide; financial reporting and analysis, perform budgeting and forecasting, cash calling and other general management accounting activities.

 

This role will see your working across the MTS and finance functions to effectively build and maintain positive relationships, fostering strong synergies between the two functions. The MTS Operational Accountant will be actively involved with the MTS team in the operational management of the trading and shipping activities.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Management of the Marketing and Shipping invoice preparation and in geniting this information liaising with MTS agreements and activities are appropriately represented
  • Perform the MTS accruals for trading and shipping activities
  • Preparation of the regular MTS performance reporting, with exclusion of service asset reporting
  • Providing ad-hoc and regular advice on complex and emerging projects and issues e.g. performing a review of MTS agreements to provide finance and/or accounting implications
  • Establish effective and productive relationships with all Functional lead teams
  • Attend Functional lead team meetings and provide financial guidance and advise where appropriate
  • Anticipate needs, communicate issues, seek solutions and work with the functions to both add value and resolve issues
  • Provide feedback to Finance on the changing MTS business needs and requirements to enable enhancements to the management information and financial accounting to ensure relevant and insightful information is provided
  • Be the key focal point in the Budget and Forecasting Process providing effective communication between the MTS, Finance and Woodside business units
  • Advise on the application of the Manual of Authorities (expenditure and decision authorities)
  • Remain connected to the Group Reporting Team and ensure process improvements or process standardisation are consistent with the finance function.

Skills & Experience:

  • Preferred skillset and experience in the Oil and Gas industry and/or Marketing, Trading and Shipping activities relating to the Oil and Gas industry
  • A solid understanding of the Exploration and Production (E&P) lifecycle
  • Effective communication skills across a broad range of internal finance and non-finance personnel
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including strong attention to detail
  • Improvement mindset to continuously optimise processes
  • Demonstrates resilience when faced with challenges and set-backs and be curious about the marketing, trading and shipping industry
  • Establishes deadlines and guidelines with stakeholders and customers and consistently follows through in responding to queries
  • Interacts with numerous non-finance skilled employees, providing support and assistance on an ongoing basis
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel user
  • Experience with SAP Accounting & BI systems (Desirable)
  • Extensive experience as an accounting professional (Desirable)
  • CA/CPA qualified (Desirable)
