About the Role

The Finance Business Partner – Louisiana LNG is based in Houston and reports to the Finance Manager, Louisiana LNG within the Financial Planning & Performance group. This role provides dedicated finance business partnering support for Woodside's Louisiana LNG project, one of the company's most significant growth opportunities and a strategic expansion of its global LNG portfolio.

 

The role provides end-to-end financial support across project execution, operational readiness, commercial activity, partner governance, and the transition to future operations. As a trusted advisor to the business, the Finance Business Partner will work closely with LALNG leadership, Project Delivery, Operations Readiness, Commercial, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Corporate Functions to support informed decision-making, strengthen cost and schedule discipline, and establish the financial foundations required for long-term operational success.

 

Success in this role will require strong commercial judgment, financial leadership, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex stakeholder environment. The Finance Business Partner will be expected to generate actionable insights from data, challenge assumptions constructively, influence business decisions, and identify opportunities to enhance shareholder value while protecting Woodside's competitive advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate and instill an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the Louisiana LNG business, including project execution, operational readiness, LNG value chain activities, commercial arrangements, and future operating requirements.
  • Provide financial leadership and business partnering support across the Louisiana LNG project, enabling informed decision-making through financial insight, analysis, challenge, and constructive influence.
  • Support project execution by monitoring capital expenditure, value of work done, forecasts, commitments, risks, and opportunities while maintaining strong cost, schedule, and capital discipline.
  • Support engagement with equity partners and other external stakeholders, ensuring alignment on budgets, forecasts, planned activities, project performance, and governance requirements.
  • Support preparation and review of Joint Interest Billing statements, capital calls and associated partner reporting requirements.
  • Manage month-end activities including accruals, journal entries, accounting support, management reporting, variance analysis and performance commentary.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives, leveraging digital tools, analytics, Power BI, AI-enabled solutions and automation opportunities.
  • Contribute to business readiness by helping design scalable financial processes, reporting routines, controls, and performance management practices for future operations.

Key Capabilities

  • Commercial and financial judgment in major capital project environments.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders through clear analysis, constructive challenge, and practical recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of cost, schedule, risk, partner governance, and value drivers across the LNG project lifecycle.
  • Capability to translate complex financial and operational data into clear business insights and decisions.

Skills and Experience

  • Degree qualified in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce or related discipline.
  • 6-10+ years of finance experience, preferably within LNG, upstream oil and gas, major capital projects, infrastructure, energy, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale capital projects, project development, operational assets, or major investment portfolios.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including understanding of investment evaluation, project economics, capital allocation, financing structures, commercial agreements, joint ventures, and key value drivers.
  • Proven ability to work with  complex stakeholders in a fast paced environment and influence outcomes across senior leadership, technical teams, and external partners.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to build credibility and trust at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to convert complex data into actionable business insights.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, performance management and management reporting.
  • Advanced systems and digital capability, including SAP/S4 HANA, Anaplan, Power BI, Microsoft Office applications, and emerging AI-enabled business tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate financial insights and recommendations to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
