About the Role
The Principle Process Engineer I is responsible for providing engineering support to Trion operating facilities in the Gulf of Mexico. This position requires interface with Operations, Production Engineering, HSE and other functions, and is responsible for providing technical support to the production facilities, advising on startup, shutdowns, process and production optimization (inclusive of emissions reduction efforts) and supporting the integration of future development projects. The role will contribute to operations readiness, commissioning and startup activities and transition into ongoing operational stewardship as the project moves into steady-state Operate Phase.
Duties and Responsibilities
Execute Phase
• Integrate with the Trion project engineering team to fully understand the design of all process systems on the FPU, FSO, and subsea systems (philosophies, specifications, data sheets, drawings, packages, verification plans and procedures)
• Support review and development of standard operating procedures, temporary startup (operational test procedures, OTPs) and flowback operations.
• Support review and development of production allocation plan, oil and gas balance models and reports (internal and external regulatory).
• Support commissioning and startup activities for process systems on the FPU (floating production unit).
• Provide technical information to other support business functions (HSE, Regulatory, Marketing, Commercial, etc) for permitting workflows.
Operate Phase, responsibilities include:
• Provide technical leadership and support in process engineering across subsea flowline and topsides equipment to the operations and maintenance teams. Foster effective relationships with both office and site-based teams.
• Propose and develop process solutions to ensure safe and reliable operations which may include additional new or temporary equipment as projects and opportunities are assigned.
• Execute surveillance of the offshore asset(s) and provide assurance of on-going performance against key KPIs. Continually improve the process surveillance tools and KPIs across the operated facilities.
• Lead or participate as a member of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) teams as required
• Manage the design, detailed engineering, and work management planning of facilities process modifications using an MOC process
• Lead or participate in HAZOPs, HAZIDs, LOPAs, other risk assessments and Design Reviews as required.
• Provides governance and oversight to ensure engineering practices are carried out in accordance with the required technical standards, processes, and procedures while operating in compliance with local regulations and corporate standards
• Provision of technical expertise and direction into “Operational Risk Assessment” scenarios related to process engineering as assigned.
• Identify, design, and implement engineering & maintenance change projects as they relate to the process engineering discipline in accordance with Management of Change procedures. Provide review and endorsement where applicable for management of change projects led by others for the facilities.
• Provide guidance to engineering contractors on the application of Woodside’s procedures and guidelines
Governance, compliance & management systems
· Ensure systems meet local regulatory standards and requirements, as well as contractual/commercial obligations (e.g., custody transfer, allocation, environmental reporting).
· Work within company management systems and processes, applying sound risk management and management of change.
Travel
· Requires relocating to Tampico, Mexico with occasional business trips to Houston and/or Mexico City.
• May require site visits, fabrication / integration and commissioning during execute phase.
• Periodic travel to offshore facility or operations base during startup and operations phase.
People
· Coach and mentor engineers and share discipline good practices across assets.
Other
· Support process relevant one-off special projects as they become available.

Skills and Experience
Qualifications
· Degree in Engineering (Chemical or related). Professional recognition a plus.
· Strong (10+ years) experience in oil and gas across projects and/or operations
· Experience with oil & gas facilities
· Strong engagement, collaboration, and communication skills
· Ability to communicate clearly in English and Spanish

Strengths
· Strong understanding of oil and gas processing fundamentals; in separation, dehydration, centrifugal compression and water injection systems.
· In-depth knowledge and practical experience developing or revising Piping & Instrument Diagrams and Process Flow Diagrams.
· Safety and sustainability mindset. Seeks to reduce risk and and environmental impact in operations.
· Proficient in process and hydraulic simulation (HYSYS, Pipesim, Aspen Flare System Analyzer, etc.).
· Detailed knowledge of Process Safety
· Experience with relevant process safety risk assessments and functional safety tools;
· Experience in Incident Response (or willing to participate)
· Professional Engineer / Chartered Engineer status preferred
· Working knowledge of API codes affecting process design (e.g. API RP 14C, 14E, 520, 521).
· Familiarity with ISA/IEE codes for safety and control systems.
· Familiarity with PI data historian.
· Experience with engineering design, construction, commissioning, and oil & gas operational background.
· Demonstrates strong teamwork and influencing skills
· Demonstrates HSE leadership in a producing asset environment.
· Demonstrates high levels of autonomy and business acumen
· Knowledge in system integration – ability to solve complex problems, understanding the interactions between the interfaces
· Understanding of Mexican regulatory framework and requirements
· Experience in direct support of offshore operations is plus.
