About the Role

 

The FPSO team is seeking an experienced Offshore Production Maintenance Technician – Marine Deck Officer to join our core operations team.

 

In this role, the Production Maintenance Technician (Chief Officer or UTES 2) is primarily responsible for the safe loading, storage, handling, and discharge/offloading of crude oil cargo, ensuring all marine operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in line with operational and regulatory requirements.

 

The position also includes the operation and maintenance of shipboard equipment required to meet statutory marine inspection requirements, including navigational systems, GMDSS, firefighting equipment, lifesaving appliances, and other critical safety equipment typically maintained by the ship’s crew.

 

As required, the role may also provide support to upstream process and production operations, working closely with the broader offshore team to maintain safe and reliable asset performance.

 

This position operates on a FIFO roster of 3 weeks on / 4 weeks off / 3 weeks on / 5 weeks off, with mobilisation from the point of hire in Perth.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Manage offtake operations, ensuring safe and efficient cargo transfer activities
  • Oversee cargo storage, preparation, and planning to support operational requirements
  • Operate inert gas systems and maintain safe cargo tank atmospheres and pressures
  • Plan and manage tank washing operations, including crude oil washing and water washing activities
  • Provide marine operations support for tanker berthing and associated offshore activities
  • Maintain heading control for stores transfer and lifting operations
  • Coordinate confined space entry planning and safe execution in line with procedures
  • Undertake navigational watches and seagoing shipboard operations when the vessel is disconnected for weather avoidance

Skills and Experience

 

  • AMSA Master (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency with Oil Tanker endorsement
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working on Oil or Gas Tankers and FPSOs
  • Strong knowledge of Class and Statutory Certification requirements for oil tankers, including:
    • Application of ISM Code requirements
    • Marine operations on FPSOs
    • FPSO offtake operations
  • Chief Mate Certificate of Competency/Recognition holders are encouraged to apply
  • Emergency Management at Sea (EMAS) trained
  • Proven capability in maintenance and integrity management
  • Demonstrated ability to positively influence teams and the broader organisation, driving continuous improvement
  • Valid ECDIS, GMDSS, and Ship Security Officer certification
  • Current AMSA medical
  • Current MSIC
