About the Role
An exciting opportunity has become available to join our Corporate Affairs team as a Senior Adviser – Government Relations based in Perth. Reporting to the State Government Relations Manager, you will be developing and executing strategic business priorities by advising on evolving government policy, political and social trends and stakeholder expectations. This role also has a strong issues management focus, working with colleagues in communications, communities, Indigenous Affairs and other areas to enhance Woodside’s reputation and influence with government and other stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement political and regulatory engagement strategies to enhance Woodside relationships with WA Government stakeholders.
- Advocate directly with WA Government stakeholders in support of Woodside business priorities.
- Provide briefing and advice to Woodside senior executives on key WA Government interactions and political developments.
- Provide advice and direction on development of Woodside public policy positions, including submissions to government.
- Maintain oversight and provide advice on key policy trends and activities occurring within political jurisdictions of importance to Woodside.
- Actively participate in Woodside’s work with industry associations and co-ordinate company-wide input to industry advocacy.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior internal stakeholders and government stakeholders and agencies.
Skills and Experience
- Experience working with senior government, parliamentary and industry stakeholders on complex issues.
- Strong networking skills and demonstrated experience building relationships and influencing a broad range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated knowledge of political and economic environment and policy making structures, in WA or elsewhere in Australia.
- Ability to understand public policy issues (domestic and international) and interpret them for a business context.
- Expertise in coordinating and executing advocacy and engagement with stakeholders.
- Prior experience working for government, an industry association or policy institute, or a similar corporate role, is highly desirable.
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline such as Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, Economics, Law, Communications.
