About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible to apply strategic thinking and effective decision-making in identifying, developing, and executing LNG supply and trading opportunities. You will play a crucial role in establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, negotiating contracts, and managing the end-to-end process of LNG origination, including market analysis and deal structuring. Reporting to the General Manager - LNG Marketing, you will work closely with external partners and internal teams and country offices to ensure successful implementation of LNG origination strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Deal Origination
- Lead the identification, development and execution of material LNG sale, supply and trading opportunities, including long‑term contracts and portfolio optimisation initiatives, aligned with broader commercial and portfolio strategy.
- Lead market development activities, including to support a good understanding of the various commercial and technical solution that could potentially generate incremental LNG demand in the focused country/region
- Shape origination strategy and market entry approaches, leveraging deep market insight and an established global network of counterparties to originate high‑value opportunities.
Negotiation & Contracting
- Provide commercial leadership on complex, high‑value LNG negotiations, setting negotiation strategy, leading counterpart engagements, and securing optimal commercial outcomes across pricing, risk allocation, flexibility and optionality.
- Oversee contract structuring and finalisation, working closely with legal and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with commercial objectives, regulatory requirements and risk appetite.
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain senior‑level relationships with key LNG suppliers, buyers, portfolio players and strategic partners, acting as a trusted commercial counterpart.
- Provide leadership across internal deal teams, coordinating legal, finance, trading and operations to ensure seamless execution and long‑term value realisation.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Relevant tertiary degree in a commercial, business, finance or related discipline.
- Proven experience (10+ years) in LNG marketing, origination, freight trading or related energy markets in Asia Pacific.
- Strong understanding of global LNG market dynamics, including supply chain, pricing mechanisms commodity exposure management and contractual arrangements.
- Good commercial acumen, excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Work with analytics team to build comprehensive market analysis and financial evaluations to support deal opportunities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of international regulations, shipping logistics and legal frameworks governing LNG trade.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self motivated and adaptable to a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
- Focused on high quality deliverables.
