About the Role:
Woodside Energy are seeking a Senior Quantitative Analyst, to join our Singapore based team to provide quantitative analysis to support decision making within the Trading, Commercial and Business Development teams. This role will be based in Singapore.
This is a great opportunity to gain exposure across our LNG, oil and Australian domestic gas business as well as some opportunities in new energy.
In this role, you will be given the opportunity to be a thought leader and work with minimal supervision interacting with various parts of the business independently to provide analytical insights, maintain and develop models , and input into the Marketing, Trading and business development strategy at Woodside.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work with the larger quantitative analytics team to price out the optionality of the current portfolio as well as new opportunities.
- Describe the value in terms of spread options and how changing market conditions will change the value of these options.
- Work with external counterparts to gather quotation of derivatives.
- Apply critical thinking and history matching / lessons learned to critique the strengths and limitations of alternative mathematical models and interpret results in the context of the business environment.”
- Write code in R and Python that can be used by traders to price out optionality with the aim of creating a dashboard product.
- Provision of advice on hedging strategies through statistical analysis which describe the risk-reward tradeoffs.
- Create short-term forward market views on both pricing and volatility.
- Lead data acquisition and storage from new and existing sources.
- Present results to a range of audiences including executive level
- Provide detailed assurance for other analysts in the team and cross-functional teams
- Provide analytical upskilling and ongoing training to junior analysts
- Be responsible for adhering to relevant internal and external reporting needs
- Be prepared to support adhoc work as required by the business
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) preferably in a quantitative subject such as finance, business, mathematics, economics
- Deep Mathematics Background [Econometrics, Engineering, Maths, Physics, Data Science, Computer Science]
- 2-3 years of Excel experience
- 5+ years of experience in writing R or Python code in a trading environment
- Basic SQL skills
- 5+ years Commodities front or middle office experience
- Spread Option Valuation
- Numerical Methods [Finite Difference]
- Monte Carlo Methods
- Strong communication skills – ability to distil complex data into simple language
Additionally, the following skills would be preferred:
- Plotly Dash experience – Production level
- Docker experience
- Volatility modelling experience
- AWS experience – especially lambda and RDS
