PURPOSE
Provide expertise to the Trion Project team on environmental matters including environmental studies, emissions, energy and resource use, waste management, water management, discharges, marine and wildlife management plans, environmental incident reporting and site rehabilitation. Provide advise on environmental permitting matters and reporting requirements to ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations, included but limited to, waste management, offshore discharges, emissions. Track compliance of all environmental permits and approvals and ensure all measures and controls are implemented and effective.
CORE DUTIES
- Advise, support and gather information of Environmental and Regulatory matters related to impacts assessments and waste management; and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company environmental requirements and policies.
- Provides expertise on environmental matters related to waste (i.e., hazardous and non-hazardous) including waste characterization, manifests, storage, disposal, transport, treatment, spill response, reporting and permitting for offshore drilling/completions/production and shorebase operations
- Provides technical assistance in the event of a hazardous chemical spill (e.g., identifies pollutant, determine hazardous impact, and recommends corrective actions).
- Coordinates and assists in audits, assessments and gap analysis of waste management vendors and practices against Company and regulatory requirements.
- Participates in the development of procedures, processes and programs for environmental management, waste management, spill prevention and spill response.
- Support delivery of all related Environmental submissions required by the applicable federal and State regulatory requirements
- Support the development of oil spill plans
- Provide training (informal and formal) to ensure that the entire workforce recognizes their own responsibility for environmental performance.
- Conduct or participate formal incident reviews and support the preparation of supporting documentation
- Perform audits, assessments and gap analyses against relevant Corporate and Petroleum Policies, Standards and Procedures to identify areas for improvement in environmental performance.
- Support, and participate in, the Field Leadership program
- Monitor, recommend and implement actions in relation to environmental trends, issues, legislative changes and best practices. Communicate findings and actions to relevant parties throughout the organization.
- Coordinate with External Affairs regarding outreach and company participation in community projects with an environmental component.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
- Environmental Engineering or Science Degree, and/or
- Specialized HSE Accreditation (e.g. Certified Safety Professional, Hazardous Materials Manager, etc.)
- Internationally recognized environmental certifications
Experience & Technical Competencies:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in an environmental discipline, with experience in relevant offshore and onshore operations
- Technical Proficiency – Environmental Management Systems and ISO 14001 certification (Lead Auditor, Implementation Specialist)
- Oil and Gas HSE Regulations with emphasis in Mexican Environmental Regulations (ASEA, SENER, CONAGUA, Etc.)
- Proficiency and knowledge of Operation Procedures
- Experience in documentation and HSE reporting systems
- Ability to travel internationally and manage multiple assignments
- Demonstrated projects and operational experience working with International regulatory requirements
- Strong Communication and Presentation skills
- A pre-requisite for the role is a high degree of fluency in written and oral Spanish and English – i.e. a capability to proficiently communicate in Spanish and English, and accurately translate from Spanish to English and vice versa.
