About the Role

 

Based in our Houston office, the Contracts Adviser - Operations is a key member of the contracts team who will lead and drive commercial outcomes for our Louisiana LNG and Gulf of Mexico Assets. The candidate will support the contracting life cycle activities by preparing plans to approach the market, issue tenders, negotiate with existing and potential contractors, prepare justifications to obtain approvals and support post award contract management.

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Lead commercial and contracting outcomes in the designated portfolio area.
  • Ensure contracts, purchase orders and call-offs comply with the Contracting and Procurement Procedure.
  • Take accountability of the contracting lifecycle from Category Strategies, Contracting Plans, ITT/RFQs, Authority for Contract Execution, Negotiation Plans, Tender Evaluation Plans, Contract Variations, and other associated approval documents.
  • Continually identify and pursue commercial and cost saving opportunities within the portfolio.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure evaluation criteria, terms & conditions, and departures are accurate.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure adequate representation and visibility of commercial matters. Ensure that commercial and contracting services are given sufficient front-end consideration in the development of Category Strategies, Contracting Strategies, and project schedules.
  • Ensure delivery of business needs to schedule, cost and quality. Compile and monitor vendor market intelligence.

 

 

Skills & Experiences

 

  • Hold a qualification in Business, Commerce, Law, , Engineering or similar. Minimum 4+ years’ experience as a Category Specialist or Contracts Advisory role.
  • Experience with a full tender life cycle, specifically within the strategy and pre-award stage.
  • Effective written, presentation and verbal communication to all internal and external levels.
  • Proven negotiation experience.
  • Demonstrate people and stakeholder management skills.
  • Effective decision making in the presence of uncertainty and risk and considering and balancing business dimensions e.g. technical, cost, schedule.
  • An individual who is passionate, resilient, and flexible with working on demanding projects.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
