About the Role:

 

Woodside Energy’s First Nation Relations team is committed to building respectful relationships with the First Nation communities where we are active.

 

We are seeking an experienced First Nations Adviser to join us in our Perth headquarters. 

 

As part of Woodside Energy’s Corporate First Nations Relations team, you will be responsible for the strategic advice and management of Woodside’s global communities and First Nations strategy.

 

This is a 2-year fixed term position, which offers flexible working options, onsite cafeteria, gym, end of trip facilities, multi-faith prayer rooms, chill out zones and much more.  

 

This is an exciting opportunity to engage with First Nation communities and contribute to positive cultural, social and economic outcomes.

 

You'll draw on your strong experience and knowledge of the identification, communication and engagement with First Nations communities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for supporting and implementing communications strategy and statutory reporting activities including preparation drafts of internal and external materials for targeted and broad-based stakeholder engagement and messaging.
  • Responsible for supporting and implementing First nations engagement / advocacy communications including preparation of materials and coordination of activities.
  • Supporting social performance implementation and monitoring specific to First Nations communities.
  • Influence and informal leadership to deliver Corporate Affairs and First Nations accountabilities implementation within asset teams.
  • Corporate Affairs deliverables:
    • Supporting regulatory approval processes that facilitate land and sea country access
    • Government affairs and stakeholder communications
    • Government, political and policy analysis
    • Community Relations
    • Support for primary and secondary government and regulatory approvals

Skills & Experience:

 

  • At least 3 years of First Nations related experience.
  • Superior awareness of, and engagement with First Nation peoples and communities.
  • Understanding of First Nations issues that interface with Woodside’s business, including knowledge of native title and cultural heritage laws and application
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a diverse team.
  • Preparedness to drive outcomes in support of overall development milestones.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply initiative and innovation to work activities.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Awareness of government and regulatory approval processes.
  • Tertiary qualifications in communities, communications, commerce, political science, legal or related fields is preferred.
