About the Role:
Provides specialist advice and executes Contracting activities in line with specified guidelines and business requirements to maximize value and ensure surety of supply at a tolerable risk for the business.
Reporting to a Wells Contracting Manager, the Contracts Adviser will be responsible for goods and services relating to drilling activities, including but not limited to, Wellheads, Tubular Running Services (TRS), Cement Heads, Liner Hangers, MPD and associated goods and services.
Contracts Adviser will act as an interface with key suppliers and internal stakeholders to develop and execute sourcing plans and category strategies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Apply Contracts & Procurement processes in line with corporate and local guidelines.
- Build relationships with internal leaders to understand business needs and verify contract effectiveness.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality delivery and sustained performance.
- Support leadership with insights on current activities and initiatives.
- Identify and implement contract improvement initiatives.
- Work across Supply Chain and operational stakeholders to develop and execute category strategies.
- Achieve cost reduction through effective category strategies.
- Align category strategies with global objectives.
- Collaborate regionally to reduce external spend through demand, price, and technology.
- Develop and execute sourcing activities for the Supply Sourcing Plan.
- Analyse data to build robust category and sourcing strategies.
- Minimize supply risk, optimize cost, and contribute to process automation.
- Validate category strategies to support business strategies and budget.
- Manage sourcing projects to ensure on-time delivery and minimize business disruption.
- Contribute to National content commitments.
- Develop and execute sourcing and negotiation strategies using market intelligence.
- Negotiate with suppliers to reduce total business costs.
- Integrate category strategy across Supply Chain to ensure lowest inbound supply chain cost.
- Manage tenders and their commercial evaluation.
- Lead negotiations with suppliers post tender evaluation.
- Create, manage, and monitor contracts.
- Perform contract variations as needed.
- Develop cost optimization strategies for savings.
- Manage supplier portfolio to support business needs.
- Perform supplier selection, qualification, and on-boarding.
- Conduct supplier performance reviews.
- Design and implement supplier development and recognition programs.
- Collaborate with Inventory Analysis to maintain accurate lead times.
- Resolve supplier performance issues and escalations.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, Chemistry, or related fields.
- Master's degree or MBA preferred.
- Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, charts, complex formulas).
- 5-10 years in Supply Chain Management or Drilling and Completion services (e.g., Wellheads, TRS, Cement Heads, Liner Hangers, MPD).
- Proven strategic sourcing, negotiation, and financial analysis skills.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP).
- Strong communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Business acumen and risk management skills.
- Ability to operate in uncertainty and make strategic decisions.
- Competency in specified categories and understanding of the oil and gas industry.
- Stakeholder engagement and management experience.
- Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred.
