About the Role:

Reporting to the VP Marketing & Commercial International Operations, this role is primarily responsible to lead the Commercial and New Energy activities in the Marketing & Commercial International Operations team. This includes all activities that are associated with post-FID, BAU activities for both traditional (hydrocarbon) activities as well as New Energy activities, and encompasses both commodity procurement contracts (e.g. power/gas for our assets) as well as upstream agreements (e.g. PHAs, joint venture agreements). It involves the facilitation of the transition of projects from pre-FID/M&A stage to the post-FID/BAU stage, with specific emphasis on the integration of the Beaumont Clean Ammonia, Louisiana LNG and H2OK projects. This role is expected to lead a team of approximately 6-8 people.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of 6-8 commercial negotiators to manage all BAU commercial agreements for assets in International Operations
  • Have in-depth knowledge of all relevant BAU commercial agreements
  • Negotiate new commercial agreements and amendments to commercial agreements
  • Develop commercial strategies and execute commercial contracts, including purchase agreements, JV agreements and upstream asset agreements
  • Manage relationships with external parties (counterparties, governments) and internal parties
  • Lead the transition of projects in pre-FID / M&A stage to the BAU / post-FID stage
    • Lead the integration of the OCI Ammonia project into the BAU organization
    • Lead the commercial and marketing strategy for H2OK (post taking FID)
  • Support the North American gas procurement strategy, with special emphasis on low-carbon gas procurement
  • Work closely with and support GM Marketing & Commercial for pre-FID activities
  • Maintain relationships with other key stakeholders in global Marketing & Commercial team
  • Responsible for participating and providing key inputs to internal stakeholders’ weekly/monthly meetings.
  • Ensuring activities are in full compliance with internal risk governance policies and procedures

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or relevant degree (MBA preferred)
  • Must have strong fundamental and working knowledge of North American crude oil, natural gas and/or New Energy markets markets.  .
  • Preferably 10+ years of experience in crude oil and/or natural gas commercial roles.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and strong analytical capabilities (ability to leverage qualitative and quantitative methods to answer market questions).
  • Effective leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate within a team and interact with stakeholders.
  • Have strong commercial acumen, an entrepreneurial mind-set, analytical/IT skills, and take accountability for your results and contributions to the team.
  • Possess a broad range of personal effectiveness and leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate and influence business decisions in a multi-cultural team environment.
  • Have fluent English language skills (written and spoken), with additional language skills being desirable.
