About the Role:

The Group Accounting team is part of the Group Financial Control division and are responsible for financial accounting of corporate processes. The team comprises a number of financial accountants who collaborate to deliver Group accounting requirements.

 

 

The purpose of the position is to perform the income tax effect accounting process together with another team member for Australian operations, with oversight of international jurisdictions. The position is jointly responsible for the planning and delivery of the monthly, annual and reporting period end income tax accounting deliverables. The role works in conjunction with the Finance function (specifically Tax, Group Financial Control, Financial Performance and Planning).

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage the monthly notional income tax effect accounting process for the Australian and Singaporean entities of the Group.
  • Manage the period end Group income tax effect process and deliverables for the half-year review and year-end annual reports, including calculation, review and analysis of deferred tax balances tax software at each reporting period. This includes coordination of the consolidation of international tax reports.
  • Manage income tax effect accounting for subsidiaries, including assessment of deferred tax balances, and preparation of tax disclosures required for statutory financial statements.
  • Maintain all required income tax effect accounting documentation for subsidiaries and the Group.
  • Provide support to the Tax team during the period end income tax effect process and income tax return process, in liaising with the business, providing financial accounting data and any other ad-hoc support required.
  • Provide support to the budgeting and planning team in reviewing budgeted tax estimates and assumptions and a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Analysing accounting standards and providing technical accounting advice on income tax effect accounting to internal stakeholders.
  • Opportunity to learn and support PRRT accounting process. 
  • Engagement with the internal and external auditors.
  • Preparation of technical accounting position papers for Group Financial Control as well as all necessary file notes to document processes and procedures.
  • Cyclical accounting activities. 

 

Skills & Experience:

 

  • Experience in tax effect accounting desired.
  • Experience in preparation of statutory financial reports.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders across functions and jurisdictions
  • Strong attention to detail with financial and/or commercial analytical skills.
  • Excellent understanding of Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

 

Professional qualification (ACA/CPA) or equivalent
3-5 years’ work experience as a professional in finance/accounting
