About the Role:

 

This role is a great opportunity for someone to join Woodside’s Internal Audit team to truly make a difference by assessing and strengthening Woodside’s control environment. The successful candidate will gain great exposure across all of Woodside’s strategic risk areas including financial, health safety & environment, people and culture, social integrity, strategy and climate, commercial and market, technology, and operations. Delivering projects and contributing to the overall business culture. The successful candidate will bring strong internal audit skills to lead audits and drive continuous improvement to our process.

 

This newly created position will join an already established & experienced multi-disciplinary team. Focused on identifying & recommending improvement opportunities through internal audits & coaching of audit assignment team members. The role will primarily be responsible for contributing to the role of Internal Audit; to evaluate Woodside’s internal controls professionally and independently, provide the Audit & Risk Committee of the Board, and wider management team, with insights, reports and advice.

 

This is an exciting opportunity that will see the successful candidate grow their oil, gas and new energy knowledge by being part of operational audit teams, broadening their knowledge while bringing extensive audit experience to the team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

As the successful internal auditor, you will support delivery of the annual Internal Audit program, including stakeholder engagement at all levels from frontline to Executive management. Leading assigned audits from scoping, through fieldwork, reporting and action closure. As well as leading audits, you will participate in audits led by other team members, following the Internal Audit Woodside Management System process. Providing input to the annual audit program, supporting co-source oversight and adhoc investigations. The successful internal auditor will be a strong team player working collaboratively to achieve quality outputs and take on a coaching role; training & mentoring team members in audit methodology, and actively driving better practice improvements to Woodside’s audit approach. 

Skills & Experience:

 

The successful candidate will have a great balance of strong internal auditing skills & interpersonal skills; truly partnering with internal stakeholders to understand the business, gain insights, information and data in a personable manner. They will possess great communication skills & will have an adept ability to distil complex business processes into clear and concise messages.

 

While communication skills are important, prior experience in internal audit is particularly paramount to the role, with demonstrable experience in governance, assurance, and risk control frameworks. In addition to internal audit experience, the successful candidate will have a sound understanding of IT general controls, awareness of data analytical techniques, strong stakeholder management, strong business acumen, a willingness to question & challenge and strong attention to detail.
