About the Role:

This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Laboratory Analyst to join the NATA accredited Woodside Laboratory based in Karratha. Reporting to the Laboratory Team Leader, this role is a part of a team that enables the West Australian-based Woodside network of Onshore / Offshore assets to operate efficiently and effectively whilst maintaining reliable production volumes. This role is responsible for delivering analytical results to ensure safe, optimal and efficient laboratory services are delivered. This position does involve interacting with internal customers to ensure their sample requirements are met. There is an emphasis on collaboration and continuous improvement to achieve an outstanding level of performance.


This position is available on a permanent basis and is based at our Karratha Supply Facility in Karratha. The successful candidate will be based residentially in Karratha. This is a 9 day fortnight position.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Adherence to safety and operational protocols while ensuring personal compliance with training and operational standards.
  • Conduct and verify routine and non-routine laboratory sampling and analysis, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of results.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, manage consumables procurement, and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Monitor data trends, alert relevant personnel to inconsistencies, and assist in resolving any anomalies.
  • Contribute to production system optimisation and support efforts to maintain accreditation standards.
  • Participate in ongoing training, adapt to various analysis routines, and promote diversity and inclusivity within the team.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in an Analytical Laboratory with Oil and Gas experience is preferred.
  • Tertiary qualification in Analytical Chemistry or a closely related science discipline.
  • For non-graduates – demonstrate high level of analytical knowledge and skills developed during at least 2+years work experience in a similar laboratory setting utilising similar analytical techniques
  • Demonstrate understanding of analytical procedures, techniques, and equipment.
  • Strong Safety Focus
  • Demonstrate a general understanding of NATA testing requirements to ensure quality systems are maintained.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Capability to alert stakeholders to data inconsistencies and provide general advice on laboratory practices and safety.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and with flexibility, balancing routine and non-routine analysis.
  • Proficiency in using Sample Manager and supporting administrative tasks like creating work and purchase orders.
