About the Role:

 

The SOC Lead will play a critical role in protecting Woodside Energy’s digital assets by leading our Security Operations Centre (SOC). This position ensures effective incident detection, analysis, and response while fostering a culture of operational excellence.

 

This position will be based residentially in Perth, Western Australia and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to critical cyber security initiatives while enjoying a vibrant and balanced lifestyle.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and mentor the SOC team, fostering collaboration and professional development
  • Oversee the monitoring and response to cyber security incidents, ensuring timely and effective resolutions
  • Optimise and manage security tools, including SIEM, and endpoint protection platforms
  • Develop and maintain incident response playbooks and processes
  • Collaborate with IT, Risk, and other departments to implement robust security controls
  • Build relationships with external vendors to influence tool enhancements and close detection gaps
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on SOC activities and the organisation’s security posture
  • Stay informed on emerging cyber security threats and integrate proactive defense strategies

 

Skills & Experience:

 

  • Extensive experience in cyber security, including 2+ years in a SOC leadership role
  • Strong technical knowledge of security tools, threat detection, and incident response methodologies
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage a team in high-pressure situations
  • Demonstrated experience working with external vendors and influencing product roadmaps
