About the Team

The New Ventures, Africa & Americas team (NVAA) within the Developments team collaborates with geoscientists from the Exploration and New Ventures teams to lead the conceptual development of exploration and appraisal evaluations. Our mission is to deliver evaluations for go/no-go decisions on opportunities in Africa, the Americas, and other regions as needed.

Based in Houston, the multi-disciplinary team includes reservoir and facility/ development engineers who integrate input from Wells & Seismic, Marketing, Decision Analysis & Evaluation, and other teams. Success relies on delivering timely and appropriate evaluations despite limited information.

About the Role:

The role is a good fit for an experienced principal facilities or development engineer aspiring to leverage their experience to impact the future of the company by supporting evaluation of early (exploration, appraise, farm-in, etc.) investment opportunities.  The Principal Development Engineer fills a crucial role in the team by dovetailing their subsea and facilities engineering with the reservoir engineering in the team to deliver concepts with associated schedule, cost, and emissions estimates.  The role may also support new energy opportunities as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the NVAA other Developments teams to frame opportunities and agree case maps
  • Deliver development concepts and associated schedule, cost, and emissions estimates
  • Mentor reservoir engineering team members in facility engineering and cost/ schedule estimation.
  • Execute fit-for-purpose engineering to support the development concept and estimates
  • Provide peer reviews of other Developments and wider opportunities
  • Integrate input from many other disciplines
  • Use analogue data from multiple sources for key inputs.
  • Lead various external engineering studies as needed.

 

Skills & Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years experience in facilities and/ or development engineering
  • Broad facilities engineering experience in offshore production systems from wellhead to market
  • Understanding of floating facilities, oil processing, gas processing, subsea architecture types, export systems, and how these components form a production system
  • Screening and Class 5 cost estimation using Que$tor
  • Schedule estimation of oil & gas production developments
  • Basic knowledge in key flow assurance challenges for both deepwater oil and gas production
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate input from cross functional teams such as Subsurface, Drilling/Completions, Commercial, Project Services, HSE, Operations, Finance, Decision Analysis & Evaluation, Marketing, etc.
  • Understanding of investment economics and economic input drivers
  • Collaborative and learning mindset
  • Sound communications skills with the ability to contribute ideas, proactively share information, and effectively integrate and coordinate
  • Comfortable balancing multiple demands and prioritizing deliverables

 

 

 

  • 15+ years experience in facilities and/ or development engineering
  • Experience in all phases of investment project lifecycle, i.e., project development phases, execution, and operations
  • Experience offshore on an operating or installation asset
  • Strong internal and external stakeholder management experience, communication, and networking skills
  • Knowledge of oil & gas value chain and ability to work with stakeholders across the value chain
  • Ability to multitask across a wide range of technical topics
  • Commercial acumen
  • Experience delivering fit-for-purpose screening-level evaluations with limited data.
  • Outside operated/ operated by others experience
  • Experience in multiple regions
  • Experience in both oil and gas developments in the project or operate phase
  • Experience defining the facilities concept, and estimating the associated CAPEX, OPEX and schedule
  • Mega project experience
