About the Role:
An experienced Petrophysicist is needed within the Trion organization to work collaboratively within the multi-discipline teams to conduct technical evaluations in support of development planning & execution and production. The immediate areas of focus will be related to well execution support and post-well activity reporting. The qualified candidate should have substantive experience with offshore well operations execution support.
This position is reporting to the Trion subsurface manager role. It is a full-time position based in Mexico City, Mexico where most of the team will be located with additional subsurface team members within the Houston, Texas, USA office.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee planning and execution of safe & cost-efficient formation evaluation programs involving advanced LWD and wireline tools, formation testing/fluid sampling and coring operations
- Perform real-time log data QA/QC and work with operations geologist to provide logging operation recommendations
- Active participant in the cross-functional Well Planning team for execution support and future development well planning
- Perform post-well petrophysical studies, including full integration of all available log, formation pressure, rock and fluid data, oversee work of logging vendors for final post-well deliverables and deliver associated technical reporting
- Plan and execute core analysis programs
- Perform multi-well field studies in support of Reservoir model generation
- Prepare materials and participate in joint venture technical engagements with partner PEMEX
- Collaborate with Houston based geoscience staff for static model petrophysical updates based on well results
- Collaborate with other petrophysicists across the broader Woodside organization
- Meet all project schedules, deliverables, and subsurface milestones as outlined in the subsurface work plans
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Petrophysics, Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, or Physics or Foreign equivalent
- 15+ years of experience working as a petrophysicist for an operator and/or a major service company
- Experience with multi-mineral solver analysis in conventional clastic and carbonate reservoirs
- Experience with advanced logging technology including wireline formation testing and sampling, NMR and capture spectroscopy.
- Knowledge of core analysis methods and core data evaluation
- Experience working with multi-discipline geoscience and reservoir engineering teams to provide calibrated petrophysical input to static and dynamic reservoir models
- Knowledge of Techlog software is a plus. Familiarity with other software (IP, Geolog etc) is also beneficial
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Proven ability to present clear and concise technical summaries for internal and external stakeholders
- Previous offshore operations experience is required and deepwater operation experience is preferred
- Spanish & English required
