Production Geophysicist- Gulf of Mexico Non-Operated Assets, Atlantis and Mad Dog
Highly motivated Production Geophysicist is needed to support our Atlantis and Mad Dog fields operated by BP.
Atlantis and Mad Dog are large deepwater GOM assets operated by BP with Woodside share of 44% and 23.9% respectively. Atlantis consists of 28 producers and 3 injectors and is currently in its third phase of development with future growth options in the plan and Mad Dog consists of the initial A-Spar development with 10 producers online and the Argos (Mad Dog Phase 2) development, with a total of 11 producers and 4 injectors currently online with future growth opportunities in the plan.
The incumbent will need to possess sound understanding of fundamental production geophysics with applications/integrations across key activities including field development, reservoir surveillance and opportunity evaluation. The role involves interfacing with two integrated teams of geoscientists and engineers and interacting regularly with key external and internal stakeholders.
About the Role:
The OBO Production Geophysicist will be responsible for activities including overseeing seismic acquisition/processing and rapid interpretation and integration of seismic products (including 4D). The incumbent will need to possess a broad subsurface (both geological and engineering based) understanding and have experience in integrating geophysical analyses with other disciplines to support activities including base business, field development projects, well/reservoir surveillance, etc. He/she will also need to establish a good relationship with counterparts at BP and CVX, nurturing a collaborative environment in which Woodside continues to have influence as a non-operating partner. This will include preparation for/participation in technical workshops and TCMs with the joint venture partners.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Integrate geophysical data and interpretations to help optimize development plans and base production
- Effectively communicate, both internally and externally with partners, as well as amongst team members with varied skill sets
- Work in cross disciplinary collaboration to ensure successful execution of subsurface projects
- Support subsurface evaluation and technical maturation of growth options including infill wells for future drilling campaigns
- Based on key value drivers, design tools and work plans to provide insight to inform optimization of future development decisions
- Prepare for and participate in joint venture technical meetings and engagements
- Support reservoir engineers with resource estimates and history matching responsibilities

- Understand and prioritize business needs/applications for technical work
- Act with a personal sense of urgency to achieve high quality results within set time frames, some of which will be accelerated
Skills & Experience:
- Strong technical geophysical background with experience in seismic interpretation in complex structural settings and 4D analyses
- Minimum degree qualification in a Geoscience discipline (Geology or Geophysics)
- ~10+ years of experience in geophysics-type roles within the upstream oil and gas industry
- Working experience with various projects ranging from discovery to late production is preferred
- Knowledge of working in production and/or field development in a business unit with JV complexity
- Proven problem-solving skills, ability to manage change and deal with uncertainty/ambiguity
- Experience in balancing multiple work fronts/projects at a given point in time
- Strong technical background with experience integrating with Reservoir Engineering, Production Engineering, and other Geoscience disciplines
- Strong interpersonal and engagement skills and an effective communicator. Able to interact well with team members, outside vendors (seismic processing, seismic projects, etc.) and JV partners
