About the Role:

Our role in Finance is to partner and enable the business to achieve strategic goals while ensuring appropriate safeguards are in place; provide data-based insights and analytical guidance to drive improvement; and ensure our shareholders’ capital is allocated in a way that generates optimal value.

Duties & Responsibilities:

We have a great role for a Senior Financial Accountant available for a fully qualified CA / CPA to support our Marketing, Trading and Shipping (MT&S) team, through the provision of accurate and timely accounting and advisory services, including revenue recognition, external and internal reporting. 

 

The position is responsible for ensuring the Woodside Group revenue for sales through our Marketing entity adhere to the Corporate policies and guidelines. 

 

Key aspects of the role include: 

 

  • Financial management of agreements underpinning marketing, trading and shipping activities 
  • Manage Group and statutory accounting and reporting for allocated business units and/or areas, including communicating results to relevant business unit Finance Managers 
  • Provide accounting advice on trading and shipping deals in compliance with international accounting and reporting standards 
  • Manage the financial accounting entries for allocated business units and/or areas 
  • Ensure all financial accounting documentation is maintained in accordance with SOX requirements 
  • Engagement with the internal and external auditors 
  • Engagement with the tax function 

Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrate commitment to and alignment with the Woodside Values 
  • Experience in preparation of statutory financial reports 
  • Sound understanding of Australian and International Accounting Standards, specifically IFRS 15 (Revenue from Customers) and IFRS 9 (Financial Instruments) 
  • Strong understand and/or experience working in a SOX environment 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Keen commitment to continuous improvement 
  • Strong financial and commercial analytical skills 
  • Sound understanding of the Exploration and Production (E&P) lifecycle 
  • Professional qualification (ACA/CPA) or equivalent 
  • 5+ years’ work experience as a professional in finance/accounting
